When planning the renovation of an older building, most people first think of a new heating system, improved roof and façade insulation, or renovating bathrooms and kitchens. However, one crucial aspect is often overlooked: old and worn seals in windows and doors.
Many houses built in the 1960s and 1970s no longer meet today’s energy-efficiency standards, and poorly insulated buildings lose a significant amount of valuable heat. The consequences include excessively high heating costs, drafts, moisture, and mould growth. In addition, the indoor climate becomes uncomfortable, as rooms are often too hot in summer and too cold in winter.
Shaft seals are inconspicuous yet essential components in mechanical engineering. They are used in gearboxes, pumps and electric motors and are applied by companies in industries such as chemical processing, mechanical and pump engineering, as well as automotive and agricultural machinery manufacturing.
Shaft seals are the silent workers in the background – invisible, yet critically important. Their task is to retain oil and grease within the system while preventing dirt, dust, contaminants and water from entering, ensuring that machines continue to operate smoothly and reliably.

In chemically demanding applications, conventional elastomer O-rings quickly reach their limits, as they do not offer the required properties. With encapsulated O-rings made of PFA (perfluoroalkoxy pol-ymers) and FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene), the poesia group provides solutions for demanding special applications.

Hans Beat Christen war weit mehr als ein langjähriger Mitarbeiter – er war Mitgründer, Verwaltungsratsmitglied, Wegbereiter und eine prägende Persönlichkeit der heutigen poesia-gruppe. Als Mitgründer der pbc polymer ag hat er mit grosser Leidenschaft, unternehmerischem Weitblick und unermüdlichem Engagement den Grundstein für unseren heutigen Erfolg gelegt.
With the office expansion in Unterkulm, the poesia group is creating space for further growth and modern workplaces. Following the planned progress of the timber construction, the next key milestone is the installation of the new windows.
From 20–22 January 2026, the poesia group presented sealing solutions in TPE, silicone and LSR at Swiss Plastics Expo in Lucerne—featuring InflaSeal® as well as 3D-printed prototypes and small-batch production.
